19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
